Jim Bowden relives mediocrity of 1998, signs Pokey Reese
Believe me, the late 1990s/early 2000s Reds had some good times, and some bad times, like going to the playoffs in Barry Larkin’s MVP year, losing that one-game playoff series against the Mets after not getting the Wild Card by getting swept by the Milwaukee Brewers, Deion Sanders, Pete Rose Jr., Alex Ochoa, Deion Sanders again, and Greg Vaughn, Now, Nationals GM and ex-Reds GM Jim Bowden is trying to get every ex-Red possible from this era. Last night, just in time for Memorial Weekend, Jim Bowden signed Pokey Reese, to probably hang out with his boys Dmitri Young, Elijah Dukes and Lastings Milledge.
Others that Bowden has signed from the 1998-2003 Reds
Dmitri Young
Wily Mo Pena
Austin Kearns (trade from Cincy)
Felipe Lopez (trade from Cincy)
Ryan Wagner (trade from Cincy)
Bret Boone
Aaron Boone
Hector Carrasco
Barry Larkin (front office)
Lenny Harris (hitting coach)
Bob Boone (ex-manager for Reds)
Jose Guillen (former)
Brandon Watson (former)
A lot of other players in the minors.
Makes it so predictable who Jim Bowden will sign next.
Deion Sanders!
