Alfonso bunny hops to DL
Cubs OF Alfonso Soriano is on the 15-day DL following a freak calf strain on a routine fly ball to left. Soriano, using a hop that he says relaxes him in the outfield and help him judge the ball better, caught the ball, but then pulled up with the leg injury after a couple hops. Soriano claims the hop had nothing to do with the injury and that he was already feeling weak in his leg.
“It’s not because of the hop. I felt it before and felt it last week. … As soon I got moved to left field, that’s what I did in Washington and nothing happened. I did it last year and nothing happened. It’s not because of the hop.” -Soriano defending the hop.
Maybe the hop didn’t cause this injury. And maybe Moises Alou really didn’t have a chance at catching the Bartman ball…? Yeah, if you could just stop doing the hop, that would be great.

Ugh, as a Cubs fan this is annoying. Soriano is so injury prone, but as long as he continues to hit .200 and a free swinging, it’s not the worst thing in the world until he gets back on track. I like that we can throw DeRosa in the outfield and play either Theriot and SS or 2nd, showing further versatility.
